Prompted by curiosity the preternatural underpinnings of reality are contemplated in a painting based practice.

The work expresses a desire to experience witchery and the particulars of the occult that can overshadow mundanity. This congelation of esoteric ideologies is grounded in research and an analytical approach. Through examining illuminated manuscripts, alchemical philosophy and contemporary feminist theories, the materiality of paint is highlighted alongside the sequencing of colour and palimpsest layers.

In this search for a magical thread, our perceptions of real life are obscured. The ritual of painting unveils what it means to be consumed by unconstrained escapism.
